This Turkey and Veggie dog food recipe is made with lean, ground turkey and nutrient rich vegetables that should raise your pet’s your health. Safflower oil is included to assist in giving shine on your dogs coat and supply needed fats for that appropriate diet.

Ingredients:

2 pounds lean ground turkey
2 tablespoons raw turkey or chicken liver, finely diced or pureed
2 medium carrots, coarsely chopped
1 cup broccoli florets
1 cup cauliflower florets
1/2 zucchini, sliced
Two tablespoons olive oil

Directions:

Add 1 1/2 cups water towards a double boiler, place carrots in a steam basket over the pot and cover. Heat until boiling, reduce heat to some low boil and steam until carrots start getting tender, about 10-20 minutes. Meantime, add the turkey and liver into a large skillet and cook on medium-high heat until done and there’s get rid of pink color. Drain off any fat and discard.

Add broccoli, cauliflower, and zucchini, and continue steaming until all vegetables are tender, yet not mushy, about 6-8 minutes. Allow vegetables for cooling slightly then either chop in a very food process or employ a knife. The length of the vegetables would depend on the consistency preferred. We usually pulse a couple of times inside the food processor and find the vegetables towards a finely chopped consistency, a lot like canned pet food.

Add chopped vegetables towards turkey and liver, stir to combine. Add the extra virgin olive oil and toss to blend together with the turkey & veggie mixture. Let it cool before dividing into freezer safe containers.

NOTE: Ziploc bags are great for freezing individual meals and will be labeled with the date of preparation and name of the meal. The quantity frozen per meal will depend on the burden of the dog. Talk to your veterinarian on how much to feed your canine friend on a regular basis. Let it defrost during the refrigerator overnight before serving.
